A succesful family vacation requires plenty of planning!
It had been a little over two months since our last family charter and even longer since we had kids under the age of 10 sailing with us. There is no question, a family charter is a completely different thing than one with three adult couples on board! Dealing with children’s appetites and tastes, and their different travel needs requires a lot of planning. Rebecca and I were up for the challenge though and given the smiles on the kids’ faces, and the comment below, I think we made out just fine!
We had a great time with Mike and Rebecca on One Love. They did a wonderful job of balancing our adult tastes and our somewhat picky children’s preferences for food and drink. All of the locations were picture perfect and suited to our family. They have a lot of skill and local knowledge that allowed us to gain the full USVI and BVI experience. The boat is very well equipped and kept spotless by Mike and Rebecca (no easy task with our kids!). We would love to come back and stay with Mike and Rebecca again. — J. Sala
Awesome Job Captain Rebecca, Mike. Yes – Kids on board are a whole different set of ropes. Thanks for sharing these photo’s. You guys are the best out there !!!
Stay safe out there. Sometimes we get caught up in business and forget to remind ourselves of the basics. Here are my best words on that subject ….
“Good business management needs to be founded upon moral – scientific principles that are indisputable and universally correct. They need to work like an unwavering star that indicates… not where to go … but how to get there. The principles must work similar to how an “invisible hand” works in a free market, among free minds and free people who all – independently choose their own course.
When this kind of management is done well, no one sees it. No single person gets credit, things just seem to work and feel right. It’s like the magic of “tacking close to the wind” or the “invisible spirit” that makes a thing infinitely more than the sum of it’s parts.
When in charge, know the rules, the principles, and the risks ‘impeccably’. Stand by your convictions, particularly when facing challenges; even sure death, hell, and high water. Always keep in mind, when the chips are down, or when things go wrong – or worse … In the event you have been elected to command? … ‘Command”.
