Alright, we give up… we’ll stay.
Since our arrival in Georgetown 6 weeks ago, the one question we have been asked over and over is “Will you be here for Regatta?” Each time we have been asked we have replied with a definitive “No!,” although as our time here has dragged on, the “No” has gotten softer and softer.
As the Cluster%#$^ of an ordeal in trying to acquire our cruising charts drags on, we have finally acquiesced and decided to stay (for Regatta that is, definitely not permanently as others do). After all, we LOVE a good party, and this sounds like it could be a week or more full of them!
The Georgetown Cruising Website describes the Regatta as follows:
The Regatta started out as a series of yacht races but has grown through the years to a week long series of parties, contests, and competitive games. For the past several years, there have been up to 450 boats in the harbor for the event.
The tentative schedule which is posted online. The schedule posted here on the bulletin board has many more events on it I think. Only 1 day after deciding to stay, we have already committed to being involved with several events. Let the festivities begin!
Although some boats have left, which sadly includes some of our new friends, many others continue to pour in. Yesterday we got to meet up with Matt and Christie from s/v Kaleo. Welcome to GT guys!
Part of me says – wow how fun (we raced the Regatta on a friends boat, it was a blast)! But then I see that schedule and it say – that’s WAY too organized for cruising. Or for me. Or something. Looks like the line up for Liesure World south 😉 (says the gal sitting next to a heater while wind sprays waves into the cockpit and snow is still on the ground).
Yes, and with the other events added, there are almost conflict to be sorted out, choices to be made.
pardon the typos — typing one handed while holding the baby 🙂
You’re excused. 🙂
OK – this is looking good! They were smart enough to allow you to sleep in most mornings! I’m sure you’ll be glad that you stayed.
Cruisers never sleep in. They all go to bed at 9 PM!
Sounds like a blast! At least you have a lot of fun activities ahead while waiting for your chip. So cool to hear that you’ve met Matt n Christie, as they’re other cruisers that we follow and live through. Oh, I wish we were there to meet all of you! Have a great weekend! Love the last pic by the way.
Matt and Christie seem very cool. I’m sure you’d have a blast were you here.
Now that you’ve decided to stay your charts will show up….
Wanna bet?
Well, since you have to wait for the charts anyway, you might as well have a good time doing it!
Who needs charts?
Wow, I never get tired of seeing pictures of the water down in the Caribbean. The photo is stunning.
I can’t wait to be back in the BVI. I am going for a month at the end of April. It’s been two years. And that’s been two years too long.
It would be great if you were there by then but I am betting you won’t be anywhere close. 🙁
