On John Vigor’s blog, one of the countless websites that I frequent from time to time, he makes a very compelling argument for having every person shaved completely bald before allowing them to step foot on a boat. Seriously, no matter how often and how thoroughly we clean our boat, we can always find mystery caches of hair scattered throughout it. There was a time when I could blame all hairs greater than a cm or so in length on Rebecca. Now that my hair is long(ish), it is not so cut and dried. Perhaps a haircut is in order?

Today is the 6-month anniversary of our departure from Kingston. Does it seem like 6 months? It’s hard to say. We have obviously traveled a long distance but knowing how much further we intend to travel, it doesn’t really seem so great.

Yesterday I entered Zero To Cruising in a contest to win a complete re-rig of our boat with Dynema® running rigging. In order to win, all that needs to happen is for us to recruit “crew” via this blog and Facebook. Want to help us win? Go to our contest profile page and register as virtual crew (it’s FREE of course). You can also help by passing this link along to your friends via Facebook and other social networking mediums because the more people we have promoting our entry, the great our chances of winning. Thanks in advance for helping. It would really be sweet if ZTC was to win!

  1. Done!

Wish I was joining your crew for real.

Is there anything I can do to help you get the proper chart cards for your Garmin? It’s not like Vancouver is short of marine stores or anything.

    • Thanks Sandra. I appreciate that.

The trick is trying to get someone to bring them to us so that we don’t have to pay crazy shipping and duty.

      • I am traveling to the BVI in a few months. If you will be in those waters by then and still don’t have what you need, let me know. I will be on Anegada Apr 27 – May 25 and on Tortola May 25th to June 9

  2. Yup a hair cut is in order :).

  3. Thanks for having me aboard! Seth fired me from Slapdash when I complained about a lack of updates so it’s good to be back on the water. Hope you keep up the constant updates. Really enjoy following your travels!

  4. The hair you find is NEVER yours! It is from one of your last guests, the previous owners, heck, I’ll bet quite a bit of it is from the PDQ crew when it was originally built. You see, boat builders are notorious for their hair and it gets left in places you can’t possibly imagine and then s-l-o-w-l-y makes its way into your living spaces. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

    Fair Winds,
    Mike

  5. Okay guys, we’re now a virtual crew member (which I’ve already been on this site for some time as I enjoy your posts) in the contest! We’re hoping you’ll help us out and do the same at http://www.dyneemaexperience.com/profile/midlifecruising.htm

  6. Thanks ya’ll! We don’t think we’re gonna be much competition to you cruisers! =) Wouldn’t it be cool if we all won?!

  7. Just joined your “crew” and promoted you to my Facebook friends.

    Ken
