In yesterday’s post about our friends’ boat that is for sale, I used the word “fame” to describe them. That was, of course, meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek, although in the world of cruising bloggers, Windtraveler does have quite a following.

Blogging aside, Rebecca and I have just recently found ourselves thrust into a different type of lime-light situation. Several weeks ago I received a call from one of our cruising friends, telling me that she knew of someone on the island who was filming a promotional video for Grenada and wanted to know if I would be interested in being a part of it. The project sounded like fun so of course, I said yes.

Last Friday we met up with Arthur Daniel, the gentleman spearheading the project. Funded by the True Blue Bay Resort, his intention is to pick up where the tourism board has left off, producing a video which highlights all of the activities that someone visiting the island can do. When he listed all of the fun stuff that he was planning to shoot, we were even more excited. Eager to get started, Arthur offered to attend the following day’s Hash and tag along with us on the big hike that we had organized for Sunday. We were a bit concerned about having someone with unknown hiking skills coming with us on what we knew would be a serious trek but as you can see from the pics, Arthur is in pretty good shape and he kept up with us on both those events without any issue, and his job included having to carry an expensive camera, and frequently run ahead of us to shoot certain footage. Was he sore afterwards? Yeah, but then again, so was I.

Arthur filming the two of us in some more pre-Hash nonsense.

Although there are a lot more fun things planned for the video, we’ll be shooting various other less-adrenalized activities too. For example, Tuesday evening Arthur picked us up and drove us to the Spice Basket for a fancy dinner and show. We had no idea what to expect but did our best to dress up in some non-cruiser clothing, trying our hardest to impersonate a couple of tourists. Both the meal and the show which followed it turned out to be excellent and the stares we received from the other patrons as we had Arthur following us around, shooting our every movement, were quite amusing.

Date night! She cleans up pretty nicely, doesn’t she? 😉

Arthur’s car, AKA our Limo!

It was an excellent show at the Spice Basket. There was singing and dancing performed by some very talented locals.

What’s next? I understand that Arthur plans to attend the Sunday barbecue at Roger’s Barefoot Beach Bar this weekend, shooting the event. We’re looking forward to this and taking part in all of the other things that he has planned for us. Yeah, there is a lot to do in Grenada. Tourists visiting this amazing island definitely won’t be bored!

  3. What a fun opportunity! Arthur does look in great shape too … I’m not surprised he was able to keep up! I bet it was amusing watching folks watching ya’ll with cameras all around. They were probably thinking ya’ll were some super-rich people!

Rebecca looks great … love her outfit!

  4. What a fun opportunity! And hell yeah, that is one ripped camera man. Better than some of the old couch potatoes I have had to drag around 😉
    Can I have your autograph?

  5. All thats missing are the fish nets.

  6. Hi, Is this a promotional video, for resort tourism, as, in mass tourism?, or does this have to do with the cruising lifestyle?,

    • To my knowledge it will be a general tourism video which will highlight many of the things there are to do when visiting the island.

  7. Wow! When I saw that picture of Rebecca I thought they might have been filming a new James Bond movie on the Island!
