On your newsstands soon
Apparently I missed posting about a bit of a milestone that we reached. Two weeks ago, October 13th, was 3 year blog anniversary. As of today I have made just shy of a thousand posts on this blog, and they have generated over 9450 comments! Pretty significant if I do say so myself. Who would have thought that someone who knows (knew?) so little about boats and sailing would have so much to say on a cruising blog? 🙂
I am also a bit happy to announce that at the request of Multihulls Quarterly magazine, I submitted an article to them and surprise, surprise, they intend to publish it. The subject of the article is Grenada and you should be able to find it in either their February or April editions. Wouldn’t my English teacher, who gave me awful marks as I recall, be proud?
Please don’t take either of the above paragraphs as my fishing for compliments. That is not my intention at all. I just thought I’d share.
Today we intend to tackle climbing Mt. St. Catherine once again, this time with just a few of our cruising buddies. We do not plan on braving the route covered in razor grass though, hoping to return from the hike with all of the blood that we set out with. Wish us luck.
Our boat is now decorated for Halloween. Boo!
Congratulations! I look forward to many more!
Happy Anniversary and congrats on your article!
Congratulations on the milestone! You’ve been feeding my escape fantasy for about the last 2 of those years, along with helpful tips as I learn to sail.
Fish away! You’ve earned some compliments. Congrats on the milestone and on being published!
You don’t need to fish, you earned it. Congrats on the blog and the magazine, well deserved all around!
Congrats! that is a big accomplishment. Your blog is interesting to read. Makes us dream of the days when we’ll head down there to ride out hurricane season sometime in 2015.
Well done! And many thanks for your blogs. I look forward to them each time.
Your link to the mag goes to Blue Water Sailing Magazine instead ? ?
Mike
Multihulls Quarterly is published by Bluewater Sailing. You can see a link about that near the top of that page.
Three years… wow! Congratulations! I look forward to reading your blog every day… I think you know that already. Thanks so much for being so consistent in writing – I wish I could say the same but I don’t have anywhere near as fun and exciting a life as you do so, unless I am on vacation someplace exciting or working on a movie I can talk about, once a week or so has to do.
I am looking forward to reading your article.
How many total visits have you had to your blog? I looked for a stat counter but can’t see one.
I actually don’t have the stats on total visits. It would be a LOT.
You need a stat counter, man!!!! I LOVE having one on mine – I can see how many, where they are from, what pages they visited, how long they stayed. I LOVE it.
It is monitored by google analytics currently but that does not have stats since the beginning. In 2011, up to this minute, there have been 69,955 visits.
Krikey, that’s a lot for one year!! I have had 25,000 in two and a half years and I thought that was pretty good.
I look forward to reading from your “cash crop writing” may your garden grow! ha ha ha
Congratulations, your blog has been a great read from the day I found it!
,,,and maybe, just maybe I might row (maybe) or motor up to your boat and say… hey, Zero to Cruising!
That would be cool!
Very cool….
It’s been three years? Wow! I’ve read it since the start, and it doesn’t seem like NEAR that long! And congrats on the magazine article. Way to feed the cruising kitty!
Thanks very much everyone! I hope you enjoy the article.
Congrats and thank you for posting your lives to us. It sounds alot better than: Wake at 5 leave at 6 commute 2 hrs, work in a cube for 8, commute home another 2 hrs, lather rise repeat… You and other cruisers are an inspiration and have changed my mind about what to do for retirement. Yes I could drop out and go now, but I don’t want to be a cruising family, I want to be a retiree pair, with a pension, anchored in Somewhere Cay sipping out of green bottles…
Thanks. A pension, or a regular paycheck, does sound nice. Hopefully that works out for you Cameron.
Congrats on the article, and even more … congrats on celebrating your 3 yr blog anniversary as a cruiser! It may take us that long to finally leave the dock! As always … enjoying your blog!
Thanks. To be clear, that was three years since we came up with the idea (and started the blog). We have really only been cruisers for half that time.
