What are the odds?
We were anchor down for less than an hour yesterday, sharing a post-travel beer with our buddy Jim, when we heard our boat being hailed on the radio. Casper, from the boat Just Coolcat, was inviting us over for drinks. Hmmmm. Rebecca and I only know one Casper, a martial arts friend from back in Canada, and there was no way it could be him. Perhaps it’s a blog follower with the same name? Nope. It WAS him, and his wife Tanya, and they were aboard the catamaran that they just purchased. Wow! Now that caught us off guard.
Not only is it a coincidence that we found them here (or they found us) but if we had arrived here only two days later, we would have missed them entirely as Tanya is heading back to Afghanistan and Casper back to Canada. This is so cool. We shared a couple pitchers of Mojitos on their boat while catching up and then later, toured the boardwalk near the marina where all the action is.
Today they’re going to drive us to Sam’s Club to do some shopping and hopefully we’ll also be able to sort out some of the other jobs that we need to get done too. Our bad luck prior to Ponce must have run out. 🙂
Even the birds are apparently enjoying the scenery. Can you blame them?
Testing out the new fishing rod and reel that Jim gave us. It works great but sadly, even with our new lure, we were skunked yesterday. Oh, and check out the hi-tech rod holder… a 75 cent piece of plastic pipe from the ferreteria (hardware store) and two stainless hose clamps.
You can tell that Casper and Tanya are going to be successful cruisers… they both already have the Crocs® which are apparently a cruiser requirement. We, as you can see, are still missing them.
The boardwalk here is a happening place on Sunday evenings. Or, perhaps it is every night? I guess we’ll see tonight.
I’m glad they had this big sign here. After traveling as much as we have,
it’s easy to lose track of where we are.
The Ponce Yacht and Fishing Club, where Casper and Tanya are keeping their beautiful catamaran.
The tight, and deep anchorage where ZTC currently lies.
Oh, what a beautiful place! It’s true. Cruising is fixing your boat in pretty places! BTW, where are pictures of your friends’ cat? What kind is it? You have to include these details for those of us who are cat fanatics! LOL!
No no no!! Do not succumb to the Croc’s, no matter how great the temptation to fit in with other boaters with (obviously) poor taste in footwear!
If you MUST have closed toed comfy shoes, buy TOMS instead. At least you won’t look like a dork!
And what a great and lovely surprise to find your friends there!! (their poor taste in shoes notwithstanding!)
We are NOT tempted.
That’s a relief!
