Sea Chanteys, of course! Thanks to our friends Terry and Anneke for turning us on to the Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs, and Chanteys! This album has now become some of our favorite music to listen to while out on the water! You can even download the MP3 version of the songs from Amazon here.

By the way, a Shandy might also go nicely with the Chanteys! Also, those who are easily offended by strong language or suggestive lyrics might want to avoid some of these songs. 🙂

  1. I’ll have to tell my daughter on the Liberty Clipper about these. They always play music when they take the sunset sails.

  2. Stop the presses, we are a chanty household. The next album you need to get is The Seadogs Present The Paddy West School of Seamanship. Then get Sea Music by Dan Zanes. Of course the Pirtates of the Caribbean soundtrack (forst movie). And the soundtrack to Master & Commander is a must as well. When you sail through the Chesapeake, I will burn you a CD full.

  3. Man…I thought you enjoyed homegrown talent……Celine Dion….Dont tell anyone, but she is in my top 5….

  4. Carol believes that the reason Canada has such a surplus of acting/singing talent is that the country has to make amends for foisting Celine on the world 😉

  5. Oh what fun! What a great idea… never even occurred to me. Will have to get some for the iPod once I figure out how to tack without going in circles and get me a bigger boat!!!

  6. Might want to add any of Eileen Quinn’s CD’s to your list. She does songs about liveaboard cruisers, some are very insightful, many are hysterical, like “The Anchoring Dance”.
